…Vows to solve electricity crisis
By Chris Ochayi
Immediate past Minister of Transportation and a presidential hopeful, Chief Rotimi Ameachi has declared himself the most experienced of all the presidential aspirants seeking to secure the ticket of All Progressives Congress, APC, at the forthcoming party’s primary election.
Chief Amaechi stated this while addressing journalists shortly after he paid a courtesy call on Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje.
Ameachi who said he is in Kano to consult with all stakeholders of the APC called on the Kano state governor to support his aspiration in the oncoming primaries election.
He explained that he served as Speaker, Governor and Minister during which he impacted positively on the lives of the people.
He therefore called on people not to vote for him because he is Ameachi but because of what he has done while in office.
Ameachi also mentioned that he would ensure that the laws regulating the distribution of electricity power in Nigeria and limiting it to the Federal Government are amended and domesticated to allow for states to also distribute power.
He explained further that this is necessary in order to resolve the problem of power supply that is grossly affecting industrialization.
“I will say among all the aspirants I am not the youngest because there are others younger than myself but I am the most experienced.
“I have been a Speaker, a Governor, a Minister and the Director General, Buhari Campaign Organization.
“Don’t vote for me just because I am Ameachi but by what I have done as a governor. I built world standard schools that my successor converted some to university campuses due to their standard.
“I will amend the law that allow only the Federal Government to distribute power because if states are allowed there will be regular supply of electricity” he stated.
In his response, governor Abdullahi Ganduje assured Ameachi that he is one of those who supports the succession to go to the south which he describes as a good work for Ameachi.
Ganduje described Kano as the swing state and promised that it will continue to swing. He called on Ameachi to wait and see how the swing will be.
He assured Ameachi that they are aware of his commitment and sacrifice to the party.
