June 12: Nigeria’s democracy has come to stay, says Dankaka

The Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission, FCC,
Dr Muheeba Dankaka, said the nation’s democracy has come to stay.

Dr. Dankaka, who made the remarks in her message to Nigerians on the occasion of Democracy Day celebration in Abuja, noted that democracy ushers in hope, freedom, justice, equity and fair play, in the country, especially, at FCC which is responsible for the entrenchment of true federalism.

According to her, “As we celebrate today, the attainment of another milestone in our nascent democratic journey, the Federal Character Commission wishes all Nigerian a happy democratic day celebration.

“Democracy which is defined as a government of the people by the people and for the people has really come to stay in our country.

“For the heroes and heroines who lay their life for the simple reason for attaining democracy for our country will take tribute to their gallant spirit, our people wishes their soul rest in perfect peace.

“We at the Federal Character Commission, an institution responsible for the entrenchment of true federalism in our country are happy because with democracy come hope, freedom, justice, equity and fair play.

“We are happy that with democracy our institution are becoming stronger.

“The federal character commission mandated by the Constitution for entrenchment of all ethos and principle under the federal character principle are happy that Nigerian are now witnessing through the instrumentality of democracy the perfect union strengthen by equity, justice and fair play which the federal character commission depicts.’
