TCN explains why parts of Abuja are in darkness

The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, said an incident at its Katampe Substation was responsible for power outage experienced in some parts of Abuja.
TCN explained that at about 18:16hrs of 4th August, 2022, one of its 33kV feeders CT in Katampe Substation, supplying the Life Camp axis shattered and in the process, tripped one of the 60MVA 132/33kV transformers at the Katampe 132kV Substation.
The company in a statement by its General Manager Public Affairs, Mrs Ndidi Mbah on Thursday night, said the two faulty equipment were promptly isolated to enable it to supply bulk electricity through the other transformers in the substation.
Mrs Mbah, said “Power supply was restored to all areas affected by the incident at about 20:38hrs.
“TCN’s maintenance crew has already been mobilized to repair the affected equipment.
“We hereby apologize for inconveniences caused by the incident.”
