Electricity workers suspend strike for two weeks as Ngige intervenes

The Nigerian electricity workers have suspended their nationwide strike action.
The industrial action has led to total blackout in different parts of the country as the workers shutdown the national grid system.
The workers under the joint umbrella of National Union of Electricity Employees, NUEE, and Senior Staff Association of Electricity and Allied Companies, SSAEC, agreed to suspend the industrial action, following the intervention of Chief Chris Ngige, the Minister of Labour and Employment.
A conciliation meeting late Wednesday evening between the Federal government and the striking electricity workers has ended in Abuja.
At the end of the three-hour long meeting, the workers agreed to suspend the industrial action which has thrown the country into a total blackout.
The workers express optimism government will listen to the voice of reasoning and prioritize their welfare and wellbeing.
