AEDC, stakeholders collaborate on regulatory measures for improved energy mix

The management of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC, has reiterated its commitment to collaborate with other stakeholders in the power sector in order to render best services to its customers.
The AEDC disclosed this at a recent Nigeria Energy conference with theme, “Affordable, reliable and sustainable energy through collaboration”, where it pledged to be at the forefront of beneficial collaboration in the best interest of its customers.
The company said it sponsored the conference as deliberate strategy to position and reinforce itself as a world class organisation and thought leader in the power industry.
Speaking during the event, the Chief Business Officer, AEDC, Sani Usman, explained the need for utilities to collaborate using modern technological solutions.
According to him, “Traditional electric utility Models across the globe are continuously facing policy shift and technological changes”.
He added that there is a need to decentralize, decarbonize and digitalize electricity access thus the need to collaborate with the private sector to achieve this turnaround.
Usman reiterated AEDC commitment to being at the forefront of beneficial collaboration in the best interest of its customers.
He added that matters discussed at the event bordered on mini-grid solutions, regulatory measures for improving the Nigerian Energy mix, the state of electricity in Nigeria and the role of traditional utilities in ensuring affordable, reliable and sustainable energy.
He also said the thought provoking event was to enable networking with power, energy and metering solution companies.
Those in attendance were the Special Assistant to the president on infrastructure, Ahmad Rufai Zakari, the Minister of Power represented by the Permanent Secretary, Temitope Fashedemi, the Commissioner, Legal, Licence and Compliance, Dafe Akpeneye and Sani Usman, Chief Business Officer, AEDC, amongst others.
Highlights of the conference was a keynote address delivered by the Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasiru El Rufai on the second day of the event.
