Prof. Okoroma emerges Imo ADC governorship candidate

A Professor of Literature and Creative Writing, James Okoroma has won the governorship primaries of the African Democratic Congress,
ADC, in Imo State.
Prof. Okoroma scored 990 votes to defeat his opponent, Prof. Okey Okoro who scored 715 votes during the exercise held on Monday in Owerri, the Imo State Capital.
Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, NEC, and the Police were on ground to monitor the conduct of the primaries
The Primary election held after two previous unsuccessful attempts during which hired armed thugs made their way into the venue of the Primaries to vote.
As tension rose on the first day of the Primaries, the Police intervened to halt what would have become a bloodbath.
Announcing the results of the Primaries, Chairman of the Imo ADC Gubernatorial Electoral Panel, Barr. Igwe Emeka Benjamin, said that Okoroma scored the higher number of votes and was, therefore, returned elected.
Speaking after he had been declared winner of the primaries, Prof. Okoroma said he would overhaul Imo State’s Health Sector, Education and Infrastructure.
He added that Security would be a top Priority in his government in order to attract investors and create employment for the Youth.
A University teacher and Writer, Prof Okoroma who is a Product of the University of Lagos,holds a PhD, a Master’s Degree and Bachelor of Arts in Education(B.A.ED).
He is a Fellow of Ballsbridge University, Dominican Republic, West Indies and the Courier and Logistics Management Institute(CLMI).
