The President of New Vision Institute of Technology (NVIT), American based Engr John Enoh, says Chief Godwin Odumu Obla, SAN, has ignited an Infotech revolution capable of attracting unequalled development to Idomaland.
This assertion was made on Saturday, 15th April 2023 during the visit of the GODWIN OBLA FOUNDATION team to NVIT in Otukpo for the signing of a partnership deal involving an annual ten(10) million naira endowment fund for indigent Idoma students in the Institute.
In his welcome address after conducting Chief Obla and his team round the exquisite NVIT edifice, Engr Abraham Enoh, Vice President of the Institute, extolled the philanthropic gestures of the Foundation, which he described as “massively and positively affecting the lives of the citizenry”.
He thanked the Senior Advocate of Nigeria for realizing that this is the age in which certificates must be backed up by skills for the owner to fit into the ever changing globalized economic highway, and for providing an enabling financial environment for Idoma youths to join the competitive stage on equal terms with others.
The Director General of GODWIN OBLA FOUNDATION, Elder Michael Uba Obande, reiterated the aim and objectives of the Foundation to include the creation of opportunities for the less privileged in the society to excel without being pulled down by lack of financial assistance.
In his remarks, Chief Godwin Obla commended the sacrifice made by the Chief Executive Officer and founder of New Vision Institute of Technology in taking the unviable decision of locating the Institution in Idomaland to provide a veritable launching pad for our youths to the global technology stage.
In his words, “Engr John Enoh has gambled his resources here, but it is a very reasonable and positive gamble that will transform Idomaland. Information Technology development and Artificial Intelligence are what global advancement is hinged on now, and this Institute is the way forward.
“If I can get just nine other Idomas like John we can turn our land around to the envy of all”.
Chief Obla revealed that his real plan is to collaborate with NVIT towards the establishment of a specialized University of Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence.
He appealed to other Idoma leaders of thought to imbibe the strategy of self help towards developing Idomaland since the repressive political practice in Benue State is unfavorable for self actualization.
Engr John Enoh, NVIT President, who participated in the august occasion through zoom from his base in Texas, USA, was highly elated with Chief Godwin Obla’s philanthropy.
“Chief Godwin Obla has ignited a revolution, such as has never been known in our land. All I can promise him is that he will not be disappointed. We need more and more Idoma people to emulate the Senior Advocate of Nigeria in his passion to uplift the society through his giving-back projects”.
Chief Obla and Elder Obande signed the partnership agreement on behalf of GODWIN OBLA FOUNDATION, while Engr Abraham Enoh signed for New Vision Institute of Technology.
The legal document signed between GODWIN OBLA FOUNDATION and New Vision Institute of Technology, Otukpo, stipulates, among other conditions, that the annual Ten(10) million naira Endowment *shall be for the purpose of supporting and acknowledging the excellence of NVIT students.
It also points out that the Endowment shall solely be for the purpose of supporting or and covering the annual tuition fees of *indigent students of Idoma extraction.*
In addition, the agreement binds NVIT to conduct a gender sensitive process of selecting recipients in a manner to offer equal opportunities to both genders.
Highlight of the event was the presence of Hon Dr Francis Agbo Ottah, representing Ado, Ogbadibo and Okpokwu in the House of Representatives. Hon Ottah expressed readiness to partner with NVIT for the overall development of Idomaland, stressing that the Institute could serve as the hub for Infotech development in the entire North Central Zone.
The House Chairman on Narcotics advised Idoma youths to take good advantage of the courses offered at NVIT in order to acquire necessary skills for the present global existential realities.
On the entourage of Chief Godwin Obla were his immediate younger brother, Odejor Okopi Obla; Chief Obidike; as well as friends and well wishers from Abuja.
