Governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, for November 11, 2023 election in Imo State, Prof. James Okoroma has condemned Government’s actions and policies which he said had made the state unsafe and destroyed its economy.
Okoroma stated this Thursday, while addressing a mammoth crowd of supporters, followers and party faithful , who gathered to observe the formal commencement of his Governorship Campaign.
The colourful event was held at ‘The Podium”, Ahiara Junction, Mbaise, opposite St. Bridgit Catholic Church, Ahiazu Mbaise L G. A, Imo State.
Amidst loud ovations and cheers from thousands of supporters, Okoroma declared that education was dead in Imo, as according to him, poor investments, inadequate motivation of teachers, indiscipline, unstable academic calendar and neglect, had remained major problems plaguing the education sector in the State.
He promised to tackle unemployment by establishing a Youth Entrepreneurship Bank, which he said, would fund business ideas and innovations from Imo Youth.
On insecurity. Okoroma said he would engage non-state actors to ensure lasting peace in the State.
He described Imo as a “State of Blood” where, he said, nothing would work as long as the status quo remained.
Okoroma vowed to continue from where late Chief Sam Mbakwe stopped, since according to him, Mbakwe llaid a foundation that could still be built upon.
He said that Imo was no longer an Investment destination as a result of poor governance, lack of ease of doing business and collapsed infrastructure.
