Ahead of this Saturday governorship election in Kogi State, a rogue force allegedly assembled by the Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Bethrand Unuoha, has continued to unleash terror on supposed political rivals of Governor Yahaya Bello in the state
The rogue force put together on behalf of the governor has on early hours of Monday killed a serving policeman and abducted six others, including four policemen on official duty in Anyigba of Dekina Local Government Area.
Spokesman of Muri/Sam Gubernatorial Campaign, Social Democratic Party (SDP), Faruk Adejoh-Audu, in a statement
explained that the rogue force, which also included thugs led by Friday Makama and Navy mercenaries led by N U Akalezi, attacked the home of the Director-General of the SDP Campaign Council for Kogi State, Sheikh Ibrahim Jibrin, with an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) at Anyigba this morning.
The attack he said began at about 6:00am and lasted for over an hour. During the attack, the rogue force opened fire indiscriminately, killing Policeman Ataboh and injuring several others. They also took away the corpse of Ataboh and the six other abducted persons.
He said, “It is feared that the rogue force may have also abducted the SDP Campaign’s Head of New Media, Comrade I D Ijele. He was last heard from at 6:00am this morning while the attack was in progress.
“The Muri/Sam Campaign Council is calling on the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to transfer Commissioner Unuoha and recall DSS Deputy Director General Tosin Ajayi, who is currently acting in a lower responsibility as director in Kogi State.
“The Campaign Council is also calling on the DSS to investigate the role of its operatives in the attack.
“The Campaign Council has accused the rogue force of being part of a plot by Bello to suppress voter turnout in Kogi East, which is believed to be a stronghold of the SDP.
“The Campaign Council has also called on the Federal Government to ensure a free and fair election in Kogi State by deploying military forces to forestall violence.”
