OPEN LETTER TO HIS EXCELLENCY RT. HON. SHERRIF OBOREVWORI, BY ALHAJI (BARR) MUMAKAI UNAGHA

Preamble
My name is as stated above. I am an elder statesman in the state, former publicity secretary of the Urhobo Progress Union, UPU world wide. Secretary Urhobo Leaders of Thought, Presidential Aspirant in the 2019 election under the All Progressives Congress APC, but now PDP chieftain, Member of Delta state creation committee, first African to be elected as Coordinator General of Trans African Youth Congress, the architect of the Urhobo Bill of Rights to mentioned but a few. Have met with several world leaders including Dr Nelson Mandela of South Africa, former Iranian President Ahmadinijad, former President of Tanzania Kinkwete, a world renown chemical scientist Mohammed El Baradei of Egypt, Mohammadu Buhari, Olusegun Obasanjo etc.

Your Excellency, I convey to you and the family my goodwill message of the celebrated Christmas and New Year. I also rejoice with you of the several victories at the elections Tribunals.

Your Excellency, you have started well since your resumption as the Executive Governor of the state, even though we have not worked closely. It is my hope that you should continue the way you have started.Though i’m not your ‘political aide or adviser, but as a patriotic Urhobo I owe it a duty to offers useful advises for the good of the state especially to achieve your dream of restoring the glory, therefore, whatever the advice I shall give here should not be dismissed with the wave of the hand or misconstrued

Recently your Excellency reconstituted the Muslim Pilgrims Board and you left Delta centre out, worst, you made an Hausa Fulani, Yoruba to head the board. Since the reconstitution Muslim INDIGENES are crying of oppression and marginilization. I call on your Excellency to look at their plight, especially as Islam condemned such act of appointing non INDIGENES to head indigenes asIs not justifiable. They alleged that the oppression has been on since 2015 which to me is an error. If the trend continue unchecked one day the situation in plateau state may likely happen in the Delta. You are aware that the state is been ravaged by herdsmen of the fulanis extraction They are not people to be given an inche as.security gives way to conspiracy.

Sir, there are growing speculations that some of the appointments you made does not reflects the three senatorial districts, thereby short changing Delta Central. Pls try to balance them for you to be seen as a man of integrity. Take charge of the state as the knives and yam are in your hands. As you settles down for the affairs of the state, I want you to take a look at the educational sector with a balance equation. The law and engineering faculties at Oleh should either be brought back to Abraka or elsewhere in the state, but certainly not in Delta South or North. Delta North and South have had fair shares in education distribution.

If your Excellency takes a holistic view of the girls modern school, Evwreni your Excellency will find that the school is wasting away, under utilized, therefore it need upgrade to a higher institution or a campus. I suggest that, the law and the engineering faculties be taken there.

When Uduaghan came on Board, I gave him suggestions to enrich his government which he refused to carry out the result was, his government became unpopular. Try and have a powerful kitchen cabinet made up of your core loyalists that you can always relied on. Also have a think tanks who thinks, reasons and plan for you. Sir, the Okpe/ Sapele, axes, particularly the Elume to Ugbukurusu is as if they are not parts of the state, I suggest that an institution should be establish there to open up the area.

Yes, the immediate past governor played prominent role in your election, you should have your way and say. You can always consult with him whenever the needs arises.
