The Unity Advocacy Group, UAG, has applauded the ongoing military operations across the country, noting that the activities of oil thieves in the oil producing areas is being curtailed.

Convener of UAG, Ifeanyi Aigbedion in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja, expressed confidence that troops will overcome the economic saboteurs and other current security challenges.

This is as the group hailed the military for the establishment of a military base in Bokkos, Plateau State and redeployment of more troops to Ekiti.

The DHQ recently disclosed that in the month of January 2024, troops neutralized 266 terrorists, arrested 463 violent extremists/insurgents and rescued 116 kidnapped hostages.

According UAG, “We are glad to hear that in the month of Jan 24, troops operating in the South South, denied the oil theft of the estimated sum of Two Billion Eight Hundred and Twenty One Million Five Hundred and Three Thousand and Nine Hundred Sixty Two Naira (N2,821,503,962.00).

“This is a massive effort by the Armed Forces of Nigeria. The AFN onslaught against oil thieves is a big boost to the economic recovery plans of the present administration.

“Meanwhile, we are gladden with the approval given by President Bola Tinubu for the establishment of a Military Barracks to be located in Miller Farm (Gada Biyu) Mbar District Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.

“The deployment of a detachment of military personnel to Ekiti state to combat the activities of kidnappers, bandits and other criminals is a welcome development. This deployment will flush out criminals from their hide-outs in the forest reserves across the borders of Kogi, Kwara, Osun and Ondo states.

“We urge Nigerians to support the good work and sacrifices of troops under the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa. We will definitely get out of this security challenge.

“We also use this opportunity to speak to the mind of terrorists, bandits and other criminals, the military will come for you. This is time to repent and turn a new leaf,” UAG added.
