A former presidential aspirant under the defunct Progressives Peoples Alliance, PPA, High Chief Peter Ojonugwa Ameh, has warned that except urgent steps are taken to nip it in the bud, the escalating insecurity situation will plunge the country into grave danger, forcing investors to lose confidence in the economy.
Chief Ameh who raised the alert, while speaking with newsmen in Abuja on Friday, lamented the worsening security situation in the country under the watch of All Progressives Congress, APC, led central government.
While advising the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to hasten the steps to address the ugly trend by taking cognizance of the current security architecture, Chief Ameh submitted that no amount of abracadabra and propaganda can solve this insecurity problem.
The former National President of Inter Party Advisory Council of Nigeria, IPAC, lamented threat by morre multi-national co-operations to pull out the country on account of insecurity of their personnel and equipment.
He recalled an incident where hoodlums attacked the Okomu Oil Palm Company in Okomu-Udo, Ovia South-West Local Government Area of Edo State on Monday and Tuesday leaving no fewer than three people dead and four others injured
According to him, “The news that Microsoft is closing its office in Nigeria is very disturbing.
“They will close their Ikoyi office this week. Without effective Security measures for the country we are in danger of losing FDI and at risk of losing the investors confidence in our economy.
“Security, good roads and train services will remain essential to ensure that we are able to protect our country from being abandoned by investors.
“Our situation is devastating and there is no sight of relief. 70% of crisis the country is facing today is as the result of insecurity. Government must take the bull by the horn to address it now before it’s too late but those in Government will rather prefer to be harassing Journalists and opposition parties/leaders.”
