FG opens flood ravaged Bauchi highway for use after repairs

The Federal Government has fixed the Sabon Gari axis of Section II of Kano-Maiduguri road in Bauchi State.
The road which was damaged by heavy flooding was opened for use on Thursday, September 12, 2024 on emergency basis pending when final and permanent construction work is executed.
It would be recalled the Federal Ministry of Works recently received an alarming report on the heavy flooding that damaged the Sabon Gari axis of Section 2 Kano-Maiduguri road of Bauchi State,
To this ends, the Minister of Works swung into action to bring relief to the people whose livelihood was adversely affected by the devastating flood.
This flood disaster, according to a statement issued by Hon. Barr. Orji Uchenna Orji, the Minister’s Special Adviser (Media) was occasioned by climate change was going to cause monumental hardship to the people of the affected area and indeed all the users of the road.
He said, “But the President of Nigeria, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR in his usual generous greatness of spirit brought immediate and prompt intervention that renewed the hope of the people of the Area.
“In furtherance of the President’s mandate, the workaholic Honourable Minister of Works, Sen. Engr. Nweze David Umahi, visited the area on 15th August 2024, initiated emergency response processes and permanent solution measures towards sorting out the critical situation of the road.
“Today, the life-threatening problems faced by the people on account of the destroyed road has been solved as the Federal Ministry of Works has fixed the road and opened it for use on emergency basis pending when final and permanent construction work is completely executed.
“The road was on 12th September 2024 opened for use courtesy of the ingenuity of the Honourable Minister of Works.
“Thank you, Mr. President, for returning hope to the good people of Bauchi State. The Federal Ministry of Works under Sen. Umahi is commended for being up to task always.”
