Court fixes February 4, 2025 to hear terrorism charges against Kumane, Ovie of Evwreni

A Federal High Court in Asaba, the Delta State capital, presided by Hon Justice F.A. Olubanjo has adjourned to 4th February, 2025. criminal charges of terrorism, murder, arson and others brought against the Ovie of Evwreni, HRM Oghenekevwe Owin Kumane and 5 others.

The traditional ruler, k K Kumane, Honorable Samuel Mariere, chief John Iyu, Ochuko Kumane & Odeimor has been facing criminal charges.

At the commencement of hearing, Counsel to the Attorney general of the Federation Sani Bagudu drew the attention of the court to the fact that six months after he has filed a motion to remove the 1st and 4th defendants counsel, counsel to the defendants have not filed reply.

He told the court that the motion was to strike out the 1st to 4th defendants who were declared wanted by the federal high court in Abuja for invading prosecution.

Counsel to the defendants Chief Albert Akpomudje SAN, argued that he is not aware of such motion.

Chief Akpomudje there after pleaded that he be given time to respond to a motion filed by counsel to the Attorney general of the federation.

This angered His Lordship the disobidient to the court by chief Akpomudje threatening that he will detaine all the accused persons.

The court however directed counsel to the Attorney general of the federal to produce the court order declaring the 1st to 4th defenders wanted.

His Lordship however directed that counsel to the accused persons should respond to the motion brought by attorney general of the Federation .

The defendants were awarded cost for flight tickets, to the Counsel to the Attorney general of the federation.

Those charged are His royal majesty Oghenekevwe Owin Kumane , the Ovie of Evwreni, Hon. Samuel Mariere , chief John Iyu, Ochuko Kumane, odeimor and k K Kumane.
