Family, Friends Pay Final Respect to Mama Amabode Macaulay

It was a moment of reflection as family, friends and well-wishers recently gathered to bid a heartfelt farewell to the late Mrs. Amabede Macaulay, of Okoloba Communitty, Bomadi Local Government Area, of Delta State.
Speaking during the funeral service, her son, a Deputy Director with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mr. Michael Macaulay, expressed his deep sorrow and admiration for his mother.
“I still can’t believe that you have gone for good,” he said. You were a woman among women, and your humility, generosity, and selflessness knew no bounds.

“Your legacy lives on in each of us, and we will honor you by submitting ourselves to the will of Almighty God.”,he said
Born on September 15, 1946, to the late Mr. Tebezi of Okoloba and the late Mrs. Lokoja Hausa of Ezebri town, Mama Amabede’s life was marked by resilience and a deep commitment to serving others.
Despite facing early life challenges that prevented her from pursuing higher education, she devoted herself to ensuring the education and well-being of those around her

Her educational journey began at Oge Primary School, Okoloba, where she attended classes from 1955 to 1961, traveling daily by wooden canoe from Tukeye Village. Although she could not continue her academic pursuits, she prioritized the education of her children and others under her care.
Mama Amabede was known for her success in the fishing business and her exemplary personal qualities, including honesty, transparency, and generosity.
Her home was a haven where relatives, friends, and even strangers found comfort and care.

She married the late Pa Macaulay Tombolou in 1967 and later relocated to Fakun Community in Borgu Local Government Area, Niger State.
After her husband’s passing, she single-handedly raised their children with unwavering dedication.
Her health began to decline in 2014, leading to a prolonged illness that she bravely endured for ten years before passing away on August 27, 2024.
Mama was celebrated for her hospitality, empathy, and dedication to humanity, no wonder her burial ceremony was attended by family members, friends, and members of the community, who paid tribute to her enduring legacy of kindness and service.

Her memory continues to inspire those she touched during her lifetime, leaving an indelible mark on Okoloba community and beyond.
