In a bid to enforce the M.O.R.E Agenda policy of the Delta State Government aimed at reviving sports in schools, the headmaster of Esenabe Primary School, Bomadi Overside, Mr. Deinkeme Asiagbe, has called for a collaborative effort between the government, parents, and teachers to foster early talent identification and economic growth.
Speaking at the 7th edition of the Esenabe Primary School Inter-House Sports and Athletic Competition held at Bomadi Overside, Mr. Asiagbe emphasized the need for synergy to create better opportunities for young pupils.
He noted that sports play a vital role in a child’s education, contributing to physical health, energy, and overall academic performance.
He said, “Inter-house sports are an essential aspect of life, offering numerous benefits to pupils, teachers, and the community.

“They promote physical activity, encourage school spirit and pride, and provide a platform for showcasing young talents. If properly nurtured, these talents can generate significant economic opportunities for the pupils, the school, the local government, and the state.”
Highlighting the challenges faced by Esenabe Primary School, Mr. Asiagbe lamented the lack of essential facilities such as a block wall fence, water supply, toilet facilities, and a standard field for inter-house sports.
He also stressed the need for a constructed walkway to improve the school’s infrastructure.
The headmaster urged the community to intervene and find lasting solutions to these challenges. He further encouraged parents to support their children’s sporting endeavors, emphasizing the importance of a balanced education that incorporates cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains.

“We must not focus only on cognitive learning but also on the affective and psychomotor domains. These areas bring out the best in our wards through sports. Parents should always provide for their children’s needs in terms of sporting activities,” he added.
In the keenly contested competition, White House took first position with 184 points, Blue house took second position, Red house took third and fourth position went to Yellow house.
The pupils could not conceal their excitement and cheerful joy before the overwhelming crowd.
