Group trains over 2,000 women in entrepreneurial skills

A group,Bilaad Development Trust has trained over 2,000 women in various entrepreneurship skills, giving them grants for their chosen businesses, and taught them digital marketing, which some are now having excellent products in the Nigerian market.

The Coordinating Trustee, Dr. Sadiq S. Abdullahi stated this at the award ceremony in Abuja, saying that the recipients included the people that produced Kuli Kuli in Bida,Niger state,the people who engaged in fabrics in Aba or Ariaria market and others across Nigeria.

He explained, this is the fourth edition with a theme,’Reboot Nigeria Echoes from the past visions of the future’ adding, “So the whole idea of this particular programme is to equip young people to take part in participating in all processes whether in political systems an be productive citizens.”

The Coordinating Trustee declared:
We were raised by the community not just the schools not just parents, and there was a Nigeria at a time. Today, we are divided either on cultural,or religious and sometimes political lines or the most thriving one now is the social class strata.

“It appears we don’t have a middle class any longer, and there isn’t a link between their products and markets.So we give support in some ways. We fund those who are running business that needs N20,000 to N30,000,hem, while others having excellent products we link them to the market.”

Similarly, he maintained, There are people who do excellent delicious Kuli Kuli in central parts of Nigeria. So the whole idea is we partner with critical stakeholders,SMEDAN because they have the largest data for entrepreneurs.

According to Abdullahi, they have signed M memorandum of understandings, MOUs with five universities. We got over 150 internship slots from blue chip companies. So our MOU with those universities give us the high flyers from science, technology, engineering and mathematics, STEM.

The winners of the 4th Edition are:Communication and Branding Expert,Ayomide Christopher Dada,
Muhammad Abduljalal Musa, won NYSC Category, while Secondary School category went toJudith James of Government Sec.School, Karu in Federal Capital Territory.
