AMAC 2026: APC Group Endorses Maikalangu For Second Tenure

Ahead of the February, 21st , 2026, Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, election, a group under the auspices of Yunusa Dantani Sarki (YDS) Foundation (YDS) has thrown its weight behind the incumbent Chairman of AMAC, Hon. Christopher Maikalangu, saying that he deserves a second tenure to complete his projects scattered across the 12 wards of the council.

The group argues that re‑electing Maikalangu will sustain the developmental projects as well as attracting more people‑oriented projects within the Area Council.

Speaking at the official declaration of the group’s support for Maikalangu in Abuja, tuesday , ex- deputy speaker of the council and former AMAC chairmanship aspirant , Hon. Yunusa Dantani sarki said he stepped down for the incumbent Chairman to continue his transformation agenda , describing his tenure as impactful.

Sarki , also the leader of the foundation said ” I am here today to officially declare my support and supporters support for Maikalangu, some months ago I stepped down for as an individual but today , I want my supporters to bear me witness that I stepped down for him and for Maikalangu to be invited and see my supporters and that we are working together.

“Yes I aspired for the AMAC chairmanship but when he defected to the All Progressive Congress, APC, he became the leader of the party in AMAC , I have to stepp down to allow him to complete his second tenure to fulfill his promise”

Hon Sarki called on the AMAC residents to take advantage of the ongoing voters registration exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. to register and obtain their PVC to enable them exercise their franchise in next year’s council election.

“The voters card registration is ongoing, those that does not have card should try and register and get their voters card , they should take advantage of the four days extension and make sure they are registered ”

Fielding questions from journalists, Hon. Maikalangu who expressed appreciation over the group’s support , assured that he will not let them down, pledging to deliver if elected .
