Nigerian Legion donates palliatives to widows of fallen heroes

The National Chairman, Nigerian Legion Morenike Grace Henry has hosted widows of the fallen heroes at the Legion Headquarters, weekend in Abuja.
The Chairman, with the support of the First Lady, Remi Tinubu, gifted the guests with palliatives for their Christmas and New Year celebrations.
In her opening remarks , the Chairman said “ This is to honour the memory our brave men and women who paid the supreme sacrifice in service to our great nation .Their courage dedication , and patriotism will forever remain etched in our hearts and in the history of Nigeria.

Morenike was quoted by a statement issued David Oloriegbe for the Nigerian Legion as empathizing with the widows, saying, “We acknowledge your pain , your strength and your resilience , while no support can truly replace the loss of your loved ones, these palliatives assistance is humble expression of our care appreciation ,and solidarity with you. It is a reminder that the nation they served has not forgotten you”
While unfolding future plans for the Nigerian Legion , Morenike told the media that her organization is planning Legion Housing Estate as the initiative of Mr. President under the Renewed Hope Agenda. She said ‘ It is a low cost Housing for veterans so that immediately they finish their service in the barracks they can have home of their own to retire.
Job quota intervention and scholarship for the children of the fallen heroes , we have been pleading with Ministries for job opportunities because most of the children have no where to run to , they only come to Legion Office , while some organizations we have talked to are showing interest to offer these children scholarship“, She said.

In her last address she pleaded with Nigerians to support Armed Forces Remembrance Day by buying the emblem so that Legion can meet up with its mandate of reaching out to veterans in terms of needs.
Assitant Director, Veteran Affairs Division ,Ministry of Defence Ifeoma Paul at the occasion in her own submission said “ It is a thing of honour to remember our fallen heroes through their widows and God shall continue to provide for them . And God bless the Chairman Nigerian Legion with the First Lady to make it a memorable day”
A veteran at the event Brig. Gen. Bet Bello (rtd) thanked the Chairman of Nigerian Legion for choosing a day to care for the wives of the fallen heroes .
A widow who won a dancing competition at the event Franca Elisha Mugu while speaking for other widows said ” Legion Office is like a home for us each time we come around we always go back with a smile , the Chairman has put alot of programmes in place such as this palliative that we are enjoying ”
Items distributed includes: clothes, foods and cash for the numerous widows presented at the event.
