A former presidential aspirant in the 2019 general election , Alhaji Mumakai Unagha, has warned against using the Military in solving the Niger face off.
Alhaji Unagha said African vountries should be allowed to determine their system of government convenience to them, not forced to accept what is allen to their well being.
Unagha, a former Co-ordinator General of Trans-African Youth Congress, made the remarks when he hosted a delegation of Youth leaders against the backdrop of the coup in Niger Republic.
According to him, “The democracy that is being practiced in African seems to have been far from that of American system and other countries. African democracy is packed with corruption too expensive to run.”
He said the people should be free to choose the best way to solve their problem for socio-political and economic development.
Alhaji Unagha told the visiting youth leaders that the people must fashion out how best they can solve their internal affairs rather than waiting for foreign intervention.
The former-foremost youth leader expressed concern on the current drift in the region as a result of bad governance that has led to the coup in Niger, nothing that, “We must rise.”
“Nigeria is not exceptional in the bad governance, therefore I prayed that President-Bola Ahmed Tinubu will do the needful to assuage the already bad condition of the past administration plaguing the country.
“We must start by correcting the narrative that the worst civilian government is the best military administration to avoid the misplace notion.”
He noted that corruption and bad governance is the bone of African government holding the people of Nigeriens Republic embraced the coup pointing out that with the the bad governance across African, there is possible coups even though we don’t want them.
The situation must therefore change for the better in nearest future.
Both ECOWAS and African Union, AU, must face the challenge of good government the only precaution for worse coup. We must not give opportunity to the military to strike in any country again.
