Indigenous Muslims plead with Gov. Oborevwori to carry them along in running affairs of state

Muslims in Delta State have appealed to the State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori to carry them along in his running the affairs of the state.

They made the appeal in a communique at the end of an emergency meeting of Muslim Stakeholders in the state held in Ovwian, Udu local Government of the state.

According them, the governor should not shut them out in the affairs of the state, adding that Delta State is not a singular religious state.

The communique which was presented to the media by Alhaji (Barr) Mumakai Unagha, demanded representations as they have contributed and still contributing to the development of the state.

The meeting which was attended by representatives from the 25 local government of the state, noted that indigenous Muslims of the state are entitled to a representation in the government for equity, fair and Justice.

While expressing optimism that the Governor will not close his ears on their appeal, the Muslim leaders assured him of preparedness to partner with him in socio political and economic Development of the state.

The communique further noted that over these period of time, they have been neglected and sidelined despite several appeals through correspondences.

“We have been treated like alien in our own state”, the communique stated.
