Oni of Ife , others to attend Junkanoo Festival in Canada

About 400 Nigerians will be attending this year’s world Junkanoo Festival for Tourism and Culture scheduled to hold in Canada, 4th – 8th ,July, 2024

Amongst prominent Nigerians that will grace this all important festival are Oni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar 111, Oba of Benin, Eware 11 Oba and Obong of Calabar, Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu.

Others, listed to attend the Festival include government officials , artist , cultural exhibitors and vendors.

Speaking to Journalists in Abuja , Nigeria Country Director , World Junkanoo Festival for Tourism and Culture/ World Carnival Commission, Ambassador Felix Ihnore said that the festival will promote cultural heritage of Africans in Diaspora as well as foster economic relation.

He further stated that the festival will generate job opportunities and create economic integration amongst member countries

Amb Ihnore noted that there will be cultural exhibitions like Masquerade, Dance, Music , food exhibition and Arts works , adding that the festival will afford African diaspora opportunity to come back home and contribute their quota in tourism development,

According to him “It is important to note that since inception of the Tinubu Administration in Nigeria, Sports Tourism, Ecotourism, Medical Tourism, Cultural Entertainment promotions at the local, state, regional and international levels have received tremendous support.

In the light of the above, through the Office of the Country Representative, Nigeria will actively participate in the forthcoming World Junkanoo Festival for Tourism and Culture in Vaughan City, Canada 4th – 8th July ,2024, to showcase Nigeria’s wealth of Cultural Heritage and Tourism potentials to the world through Music, Dance, Choreography, Exhibitors of Masquerades , Arts, Fashion, etc.

“At this juncture, it is important to let the World know that It has been over 400 years, and time to teach the next generation our culture and tradition, most especially Africans in the diaspora.

“Hence we are inviting you and your organization to Vaughan City, Canada.from 4th to 8th July, 2024, where Leaders of Culture and Tourism from Africa, Caribean, and the Afro Diaspora around the World will gather for the International Junkanoo Festival of Tourism and Culture ‘2024”
