A legal practitioner, Barr. Jude Obiora Ezeobi, has debunked a disclaimer published against him in some national dailies that he was no longer married to late Ulonna Odochi Inyama prior to her demise.
Ezeobi, was reacting to a disclaimer issue by the family of the deceased, to the extent that the marriage between him and the late Ulonna broke down irrevocably months after it was contracted and was annulled by a Federal High Court in a ruling delivered by Justice A. Nasir suit number PET/144/2021on October 2023.
According to Ezeobi , “My attention has been drawn to a publication circulating on various public spaces and particularly in the Vanguard newspapers of 11th September 2024, where allegations which are entirely false and baseless are being bandied by persons who, regrettably, I think ought to be grieving and focused on laying to rest an illustrious and dearly beloved daughter to whom I used to be married.
“In view of the sensitivity of the circumstances, I shall refrain from joining issues with a family in grief, which is ostensibly, regrettably, being taken advantage of by shameless persons (who clearly are too cowardly to approach me frontally) to foster an agenda of calumny against me.
“However, I must put on record that identical statements have been published against me and they were swiftly withdrawn with a public apology after I challenged the truth of the statements.
” I have also filed a ONE BILLION NAIRA suit against the publishers of the said statements in SUIT NO.: CV/3964/2024.
“The general public is thus urged to disregard the publications as they are entirely false. Our esteemed gentlemen of the press are also reminded of their beholden duty to verify facts and only publish balanced reporting by giving a person against whom such scandalous allegations are made an opportunity to state their own side of the story before going to press.
“I am currently consulting widely and shall make further statements as the need arises.”
