...Says formidable opposition front unsettles Mr. President

ABUJA: The Coalition of United political Parties, CUPP, has said President Bola Tinubu’s bid to seek reelection in 2027 stands on sinking ground, because he won’t escape the imminent defeat that awaits him due to his poor governance.
The opposition parties apparently reacting to President Tinubu’s mocking of opposition coalition under the African Democratic Congress, ADC, during the National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting of APC said Mr. Presidential was masking courage in the face of crushing defeat awaiting him in 2027.
The CUPP in a statement by Chief Peter Ameh, its National Secretary on Friday in Abuja said, “In a recent statement, Mr. President attempted to project confidence in response to the growing coalition of opposition forces.
“However, his remarks reveal a leader unsettled by the unified front challenging his administration. The opposition remains steadfast, and the President’s superficial display of strength should not be taken seriously.
“Furthermore, the defections to the All Progressives Congress (APC) carry little weight. Those switching sides lack significant political value, having relied on the influence of opposition leaders to secure their own elections.
“They bring no electoral advantage to bolster the President’s reelection bid. As the 2027 elections approach, it is clear that the President stands on sinking ground, unable to escape the imminent defeat that awaits him due to his poor handling of the economy that have left many people poorer and worse off than pre-2023.
“The opposition coalition remains committed to its cause, confident in its ability to lead with integrity and deliver the change Nigerians deserve.”
