Igbo leaders Demand Nnamdi Kanu Freedom

The leaders of the Igbo speaking states in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja , have called on the President , Bola Ahmed Tinubu to immediately release the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra,( IPOB) Mazi Nnamdi Kanu
The Eze Igbo, Abuja , Eze Ibe Nwosu and the member representing , AMAC / BWARI federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Chinedu Obika amongst other leaders made the appeal at the weekend in Abuja during the New yam festival of the Igbo’s in Abuja .
The Igbo leaders criticized the recent exercise of the prerogative of mercy by president Amed Bola Tinubu where drug addicts and those who committed murder were pardoned , excluding Mazi Nnamdi Kanu , who according to them committed no wrong .
Speaking , Eze Nwosu , the Igbo 1 of Abuja said Nnamdi Kanu should be set free as the Federal government has failed to prove any case of wrong doing, adding that his release will assuage the agitation of the Igbo’s .
The Monarch, who urged the Igbo’s to continue to be law abiding and live in harmony with their neighbors , maintained that the continued incarceration of the IPOB leader indicates that the civil war has not ended , urging the federal government to respect the wishes of the Igbo’s and release Nnamdi Kanu unconditionally.
“This is what all the Igbo’s in Nigeria wants, this is what we are after now , they should release Nnamdi Kanu, he has not done anything in Nigeria what no body has done , we are respecting them , let the Federal government also respect our views and release Nnamdi Kanu . The Igbo’s should continue to be law abiding”
Similarly, Hon Chinedu Obika who stated that the release of Nnamdi Kanu is long over due , argued that his release by the federal government will enhance the unity of the country and correct the widely notion of the discrimination of the Igbo’s.by previous and current government.
The Federal Law maker noted that, it would be in the best interest of President Tinubu to release Kanu, adding that
president Tinubu should immediately do the needful and unite the country by releasing Kanu..
However, the Rep member said the portance of the New yam festival was to bring Igbo’s together irrespective of party affiliation and religion to appreciate the God of bountiful harvest .
He said ” The release of Kanu is long over due , we are looking at equity and fairness, there is nothing better than unity , if Kanu is released it is at the best interest of Tinubu and Nigeria, we are looking at him as the leader , he should do the right thing and release Nnamdi Kanu.”
Hon Obika denied claims by the legal team of Nnamdi Kanu, Bar Maxwell Opara that Igbo politicians and leaders were responsible for the continued incarceration of the IPOB leader.
