BIOGRAPHY OF MRS. ATULU ESTHER PINIKI APIKI (1948 – 2025)

Birth and Early Life

Mrs. Atulu Esther Piniki Apiki, fondly known as Mama, was born in the early part of 1948 in Oporoza, Gbaramatu Kingdom, Delta State, into the family of Mr. Thomas Piniki.

She grew up in a large and loving family, surrounded by warmth, laughter, and strong family values. From her early years, Mama displayed resilience, a generous heart. She pursued her dreams and became a successful entrepreneur whose life touched many within and beyond her community.

Mama was Amongst those that first started the production of pepper soup and banga spices in warri and she is the owner of ESTER PINIKI PEPPER SOUP AND BANGA SPICES.

MARRIAGE LIFE

Mama was happily married to a vibrant and courageous soldier, Late Ssgt Kosboy Josiah Apiki, from AKUGBENE and Okoloba Communities, Bomadi LGA, Delta State. Together, they built a home filled with love, respect, and shared values. Their marriage was blessed with Six (6) children, among whom are
(1) David Apiki
(2) Preye Apiki
(3) Ebiki Itsekiri Apiki
(4) Victoria Apiki
(5) Emmanuel Apiki
(6) Denyefa Zubi
and numerous grandchildren, creating cherished memories that will last for a lifetime.

CHRISTIAN LIFE

Mama’s Christian faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her through both the highs and lows. She refused to be overwhelmed with widowhood after the demise of her husband in 1990. New Year’s Day held a special place in her heart. She would beautifully decorate the house and prepare sumptuous meals, including Owo soup, Banga soup, jollof rice, and fried chicken, ensuring that everyone around her felt loved and welcomed. Mama lived out her faith through kindness, love, and a warm smile. Her prayers were powerful, and her legacy of love remains enduring. Sadly, as God would have it, she did not live to witness the New Year of 2026.

HER LAST DAYS

In her final days, Mama faced some health challenges that led to several hospital visits in an effort to improve her condition. She showed signs of recovery, but death ultimately took its toll. She peacefully gave up the ghost on New Year’s Eve, 31 December 2025, at about 11:20 a.m., at the age of 78.
May her gentle soul rest in peace. Amen.
